Day 1–2 · 2 nights

Delhi

A day to land and do nothing, then a full day with a guide: Old Delhi by cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, and the Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb in the new city.

Day 1 · Arrive Delhi

You are met at the international airport and driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours, which after that flight is the point of it.

Day 2 · Delhi, old and new

After breakfast, Old Delhi: Raj Ghat, the Red Fort, and Chandni Chowk by cycle rickshaw. Then New Delhi — the Qutub Minar, India Gate, Humayun's Tomb, the Lotus Temple, and Rashtrapati Bhavan from the road. If there is time, a ride on the metro.

The fort in the afternoon, the Taj Mahal after it. One night, then on to Jaipur.

Day 3 · Delhi to Agra

The Yamuna Expressway to Agra after breakfast. Agra Fort in the afternoon, then the Taj Mahal, and back to the hotel by evening.

Amer Fort in the evening for the light and sound show, and a day for the City Palace, the museum and Jantar Mantar.

Day 4 · Agra to Jaipur

239 km, about five hours. Check in, then out to Amer Fort in the evening for the light and sound show.

Day 5 · Jaipur

Past the Hawa Mahal in the morning. In the afternoon the City Palace and its museum, and Jantar Mantar, the observatory next door.

Pushkar

One night by the lake: the Brahma temple six minutes away, and a camel ride if the timing works.

Day 7–8 · 2 nights

Udaipur

The City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon ki Bari, and two hours on Lake Pichola late in the afternoon.

Day 7 · Pushkar to Udaipur

394 km, about six hours. The evening is free — the lanes behind the hotel run down to the washing ghats on Lake Pichola, and there are good restaurants in town if you want dinner out.

Day 8 · Udaipur

The City Palace and Museum, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan; the Pratap Memorial with its bronze of Maharana Pratap; Jagdish Temple, built in 1651; and Saheliyon ki Bari. Late afternoon, two hours on Lake Pichola past the ghats, with the Lake Palace and City Palace from the water.
