Chitvan stands at Samnapur village, 3.65 kilometres from the Mukki gate of Kanha, which is the quiet end of the park. The last stretch of the drive in goes through meadows and across a stream.
The cottages and suites are named for the elements. Jal sits closest to the core, close enough to hear the deer calling. Our price carries a jeep into the park as well as the bed, with the permit, park entry and guide inside the figure, passed on at what the lodge charges us rather than marked up.

Chitvan Jungle Lodge
Twenty cottages and suites at Samnapur village, 3.65 km from the Mukki gate of Kanha, named for the elements: Akash suites with a separate living room and bay windows or a first-floor terrace, Jal suites closest to the core where you can hear the deer calling, Prithvi suites of 900 square feet looking at the Maikal hills, the two-bedroom Mahasagar suite with six private balconies, and single-floor Jal cottages of over 300 square feet with their own outdoor sit-out. There is a multi-cuisine restaurant and a swimming pool. The lodge takes its idea from Vanaprastha, the third stage of life, and uses the lotus as its mark.

Kanha closes its AFTERNOON safari every Wednesday, so a three night stay is planned around it.
The lodge books the drive on your photo ID and pays the forest department in full to hold the vehicle, which is why it is settled before you travel. Once booked the department does not refund it or move it to another date. The rate is set by the forest authority and the Gypsy Union and can change at short notice, in which case we tell you before you pay.
Long weekends and the Christmas and New Year period carry a mandatory supplement and the package rate does not apply. We have 24 December to 1 January closed until the lodge gives us the amount.
How the price and booking work
- Prices are per person, two sharing, for the full 3-night experience, and include all taxes. Nothing is added afterwards.
- These rates apply for 1 Oct 2026 – 31 Mar 2027. Rates move with the season — the figure shown is the lowest available for the dates you choose.
