Why we love it

"A family run heritage haveli in Udaipur's old city, with a fountain courtyard, a garden pool and live santoor at breakfast"

Hotel Mahendra Prakash is a family owned heritage haveli a short walk from the City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Lake Pichola, which puts most of what people come to Udaipur for within walking distance of the door.

Lush gardens surround the swimming pool, there is a courtyard with the sound of fountain water, and a live santoor plays at breakfast. It is run by Ajay and Anupama Singh Shaktawat, and the building blends historic architecture with modern amenities.

Rooms range from the Deluxe, with a large double or twin bed, a separate seating area and a work desk, to the Superior at forty square metres with a king bed, a living area and expansive windows over the skyline. Dining runs through the Aura restaurant, a cafe and the Library Bar, built on regional recipes and seasonal ingredients.
