The Rajbari Bawali

The Rajbari Bawali is a zamindari mansion near Kolkata, and the hotel tells its own story in three parts: the discovery of the building, its restoration, and the stay that came out of it.

Rooms are graded through the house rather than numbered off a corridor. There is Bawali Classic and Heritage, the Notun Bari and its pond view rooms, the Dak Bungalow and Notun Dak Bungalow, the Zamindari Suite, the Royal Suite and the River Lodge.

Dining moves around the building too, through the Piano Room, the Lotus Pavillion, the Thakur Dalan, the rooftop cafe and the verandah. Days are filled with a sundowner on the Ganges, culinary and pottery classes and yoga, and the house is also used as a wedding venue.
