Bandhav Vilas sits on the edge of the Bandhavgarh reserve among the Vindhya hills. The villas are unusually large for a safari lodge and each has its own sit-out and deck, which is the difference between waiting for the afternoon drive indoors and waiting for it outside.
There is a multi-cuisine restaurant, a swimming pool and a spa. The lodge runs its own jeeps with its own naturalists, so the drive is arranged by the people you are staying with rather than by a third party at the gate.
Bandhavgarh closes its afternoon safari every Wednesday. The deck, the pool and the spa are what that day is for.
The package is APAI, so all three meals are buffets and they are in the price, along with a welcome drink on arrival and evening tea and coffee with cookies. Every applicable tax is inside the figure as well.

The Samode family's safari lodge sits on 35 acres next to the Bandhavgarh buffer zone, about 25 minutes from the reserve's three entry gates. Twelve villas each get a private courtyard, deck and outdoor shower, with an infinity pool and spa shared between them. The build takes its cues from Mardari, the village next door, which is why it doesn't shout.
