The Waterhole is built out of what was thrown away.
Its walls are re-used bottles and worn-out tyres, and the kitchen there serves what the house calls The Jungle Feast. That tells you most of what Tigergarh is: a small place at Ranchha village on the edge of Bandhavgarh, run with more care than budget.
Six air-conditioned cottages have king-sized four-poster beds, large windows over the green and their own sit-outs. Five twin-bedded deluxe rooms are spread across the rest of the property. Eleven rooms in total, which is small for a tiger park.
There is a forest view plunge pool, a butterfly garden, and a potter's wheel in the house. Bandhavgarh closes its afternoon safari every Wednesday, and those are the hours those things are for.
The package is APAI, so all three meals are buffets and they are in the price, along with a welcome drink on arrival and evening tea and coffee with cookies. Every applicable tax is inside the figure as well.

The Samode family's safari lodge sits on 35 acres next to the Bandhavgarh buffer zone, about 25 minutes from the reserve's three entry gates. Twelve villas each get a private courtyard, deck and outdoor shower, with an infinity pool and spa shared between them. The build takes its cues from Mardari, the village next door, which is why it doesn't shout.
