A small lodge at Corbett Tiger Reserve, set between the Himalayan foothills and the Shivaliks: just eighteen independent cottages and lodges in more than fifteen acres of replanted forest. Days run to safari drives, bird walks and morning river walks. Meals are farm-to-table from the retreat's own organic plot, drawing on Kumaoni, Rampur and Raj-era recipes; you can pick the vegetables yourself.

A century-old aristocratic mansion on the Ganges at Haridwar, now a 35-room hotel under IHCL's SeleQtions flag. Rooms face quiet courtyards or the river, and there is a Jiva spa, pool and library inside the old walls.
