Why we love it

"A 225-year-old painted haveli in old Jaipur"

Samode Haveli has been the Jaipur home of the Samode family for around 225 years, tucked down a lane in the old walled city. Behind its gates: courtyards hung with bougainvillea, corridors and rooms covered in hand-painted murals, terraces over the rooftops of the old town, and a central courtyard where the tables are set around a lotus fountain and lit by candles at dusk. Grand in the intimate, lived-in way only a real family home can be — not a hotel dressed as a palace, but the house itself.
